Matthias Claudius Hofmann: Country bin pull’em“ – Ein Making-of

8. July, 18:00
Forschungsstation auf dem Lutherplatz

The exhibition "Country bin pull'em. A Shared Look Back", which can be seen at the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt/Main until the end of August 2025, breaks new ground with its presentation (or non-presentation) of indigenous rock art from the northwest of Australia and its depictions from the tradition of colonially influenced ethnography. It employs methods that, in their reflectiveness and self-restraint, have rarely been seen in contemporary exhibition practice negotiating post-coloniality. In his lecture, Matthias Claudius Hofmann, lead curator of the exhibition in Frankfurt, presents negotiations and strategies of cooperation in a project organized over twelve years together with the Traditional Owners, which in many respects can claim to be a model in Europe.

The lecture is part of the semester project on the reconstruction and expansion of the ‘Anti-Humboldt-Box’ in Dierk Schmidt's class.

Free admission Event in German language
