The lecture explores the professional practice of exhibition design at the intersection of content, space, and form. It focuses on the question of how content can be spatially narrated in close collaboration with curators and artists, and how exhibits can be appropriately staged.
Friederike Daumiller discusses her journey from product design to the medium of the exhibition and offers insights into the design and development process, as well as into teaching these topics in educational settings.
Friederike Daumiller’s work straddles the fields of product design and exhibition design. It ranges from very small objects to large-scale installations. After completing her studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she has worked with Ayzit Bostan, Philipp Bree, and Konstantin Grcic, among others, and has carried out independent projects. For these projects, she received various project grants, such as the Encouragement Award from the City of Munich and a DAAD graduate fellowship for a research stay at the Royal College of Art in London. Friederike Daumiller lives in Munich and teaches at ECAL, L’école cantonale d'art de Lausanne, and the Kassel Art Academy.
Friederike Daumiller was invited by the “Textile Product Design” class. The event will be held in German.
